Highway Bus from Taipei
KuoKuang Bus: depot one block west of Taipei Train Station, stops at XiMenDing, BanCiao. $85 to Lungtan (bus bound for Chutung). KuoKuang Bus: 02-2558-3060.
Yalien Bus: starts at Lienho Pao (near Municipal Office), stops at city bus stops at: RenAi Road between DunHua and JienGuo roads, on XinSheng between XinYi Road and National Taiwan University, in front of the GungGuan MRT stop, and at several stops in Jingmei and XinDien. $90 to Lungtan. Tailien Bus: starts at Sungshan Airport, stops at ZhungXiao DunHua MRT, Chengkung Apartments, GongGuan, as well as XiuLang Elementary in Yungho. Tailien Bus: 02-2515-9899.
From Banqiao (Panchiao), Kuokuang Bus: to Longtan hourly from 06:00 to 09:00, 10:30 to 20:30. $50. Stops are Banqiao New Station, Banqiao Old Station, Kuangchuan Hospital, Tucheng Agriculture Assoc, Dingpu (Jhongyang Road), Hengsi, Fusing Road.

Highway Bus from Hsinchu, points south
Train to Hsinchu Station. The Yalien Bus Company has buses running every 30 minutes (certain hours 20 minutes) from the west side of the railroad station. If they haven't relocated in the last two years, then their terminal (a roadside stop, really) is on the road running parallel to the train track, going north from the station. One-way fare is $120. Highway Bus from Taichung, points south
Train to Taichung Station. The Taichung Bus Company has buses running every 30 minutes from opposite the railroad station. If you are starting from elsewhere in Taichung, you can catch the bus at the following stops: City Government, College of Education (Normal College?), Science Museum, ChaoMa, ChungChing. Fare to Longtan is $185. Taichung Bus Company: 0800-00126, www.tcbus.com.tw. For $205 the Kuokuang Bus Company has buses leaving Taichung Train Station and stopping at Shuinan (Chungching Road) (on the return leg, it makes 7-8 stops along that route). Buses leave Taichung Station at 06:00, and thereafter hourly, 7:30 to 20:30.
Taxis from Interchange to Kunlun Herb Gardens
10 minutes before arriving at the Longtan Interchange, put in a call to any of the following Longtan-based taxis. Specify whether you will be getting off the bus at the interchange (a bit closer to Kunlun) or downtown (more last-minute shopping choices).

Driving from Taipei and Points North
Second North Freeway to Longtan Interchange. Follow brown tourist-attraction signs to Shihmen Dam for about 7 km to where Provincial Highway 4 meets Provincial 3yi. At that point turn right, up the hill, and proceed to the 10-km mark on the 3yi. Left onto road leading up to Kunlun Herb Gardens.
Driving from Hsinchu and Points South
At Hsinchu switch from the Sun Yatsen North Freeway to the Second North Freeway. Off at the Longtan Interchange.
